CNN: Glee banks on “risky strategy”, and it pays off

CNN covered Fox’s marketing campaign for their new hit TV show, GLEE. Their strategy of an early premiere and the embrace of social networking and new technologies like the Thingfo-powered social media game, “Biggest Gleek”, which channels and rewards fan enthusiasm, have payed off.
Some highlights from CNN’s article [with my emphasis in bold]:

ABC News Bring Themselves Into the Social Web With SocialSite

During President Obama’s first address to a joint session of Congress, ABC News featured our SocialSite system on their main and politics pages. During the historic address, which dealt primarily with Obama’s plans to deal with the current economic crisis, a prominent SocialSite widget followed all the Twittering about the speech. We think this shows [...]

California Wildfire Tracker Widget

Just read a post on Mashable about Wildfire widgets, so using some Twitter keywords, Delicious bookmarks, Flickr and YouTube tags, updates from InciWeb, I made a California Wildfire Tracker Widget using SocialSite.  Took me about 4 minutes to tweak the keywords and get great results.
To put this social news widget for tracking the CA Wildfires on [...]

Thingfo’s on Twitter, talking about social widgets

Hey there!  Thingfo’s on Twitter now, meeting people, Twittering about Widgets, and shamelessly promoting our new widget system, SocialSite.
It’s so cool how easy it is to meet  people with similar interests online.  Then again, I have the SocialSite widget right here in this blog.  One of the tags it’s searching is “widgets”, so it brings [...]

Introducing the Thingfo platform

Today, we are introducing our thingfo platform. By introducing, I mean blogging about it and launching a new site at http://www.thingfo.com, while moving the Thingfo community app to http://things.thingfo.com, where it lives on and will get more attention in the future.
What is the Thingfo platform? It’s a widget and API system that [...]

Mashable breaks news on Thingfo mobile integration via Twitter

Kristen Nicole of Mashable just wrote a great post on our new “update from Twitter” feature.
Kristen perceptively says: (my emphasis)
Thingfo had already planned on Twitter integration, such updates [to Thingfo] could be sent in from Twitter. Equally as important, it allows Thingfo to have mobile integration as well. As I previously noted, [...]

New thing page design for you!

The title for this post makes me think of, “No soup for you!” but really it’s just the opposite. New design for you!
We just launched some design changes to the main “thing” page, based on what our test users asked for. The feedback was pretty consistent and I think the new design [...]
